Eisenstädter Seehütte
2.5About
The hut is managed by Naturfreunde and operates year-round. It has 40 beds split across shared rooms and offers simple meals including a basic breakfast and evening dishes. Water is from the mountain spring; shower and toilet facilities are functional rather than luxurious. The setting works well for one-night stops on longer traverses of the Rax or as a base for day walks around the lake and adjoining summits like Heukuppe (1,894m) and Rax itself (2,007m).
Book directly with the hut for weekends and July-August; phone ahead in winter to confirm heating is on. The cable car option makes this hut accessible to less experienced hikers, which means summer weekends fill quickly. Midweek visits in shoulder seasons are quieter. Staff speak German and English.
