The approach trail is well-marked and climbs steadily through mixed forest before opening onto alpine meadow. Most parties use the cable car to cut the elevation gain, then walk up in 50 minutes. The hut is a solid base for exploring the Rax's maze of karst limestone terrain—trails radiate toward Heukuppe (1,890m) and down-valley routes that loop back to the valley floor.
