Siebenhütte
2.5About
The hut is staffed year-round and sleeps around 30 people in mixed dormitory rooms. Meals are hearty—expect traditional Austrian fare like Erdäpfelsuppe and Schweinebraten. Vegetarian options are available with advance notice. The hut has no shower (bring a washcloth), but toilets are functional and water is reliable. Winter access depends on snow conditions; confirm with management before attempting December–March ascents.
Book directly via the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) or contact the hut keeper. Weekends fill quickly June through September, especially during school holidays. July and August demand booking 4–6 weeks ahead. The shoulder seasons (May and September–October) are quieter and offer better weather stability than you might expect. Phone ahead to confirm water and staffing during spring and autumn shoulder periods.
