Turmsteighütte
2.5About
The hut operates year-round and sleeps around 50 guests in dormitory rooms and smaller doubles. The OeAV-managed facility serves simple meals—expect goulash, schnitzel, and vegetarian options—and maintains a well-stocked bar. Water comes from a spring and electricity is basic. Conditions are comfortable rather than luxurious. The location works well as a staging point for ridge walks across the Ybbstaler Alpen or day trips to nearby peaks like the Dürrenstein (2,044m).
Book directly with the hut during their opening hours. Weekend capacity fills quickly, especially between June and September when the weather is most reliable. Weekday visits and shoulder seasons (May, October) are easier. The hut rarely closes completely but confirm opening dates before planning a winter visit, as staffing can be limited outside peak season.
