About
The OeAV-managed hut accommodates 40 people in simple dormitory rooms and a few doubles. A simple self-catering kitchen is available, though the hut serves hearty meals at midday and evening. Water comes from a mountain spring. The hut operates year-round but is busiest July to September and during school holidays. Winter access depends on snow conditions; verify opening status before travelling in colder months. The hut makes a logical base for day walks across the Berchtesgaden ridges and serves hikers crossing between the Saalbach and Zell am See valleys.
Book 6–8 weeks ahead for summer weekends and July/August. Contact the hut directly for availability and meal reservations. The hut accepts cash and card payments. Arrive by early afternoon to secure a good bed position, as the dormitories fill quickly on fine weekends.
