About

Duisburger Hütte sits at 2,572m in the Radstädter Tauern, a three to four hour walk above the Untersulzbachtal valley near Zell am See. The approach follows the Untersulzbach stream through coniferous forest before opening onto alpine meadow. Most parties reach the hut from Glemm in the west or from the Habachtal in the south, though trails from the Zeller Grund are also well-trodden. The hut works as a base for ridge traverses and summits in the Radstädter Tauern, with peaks like Hochalmspitze (3,076m) and Raudeck (3,035m) within easy reach.
The hut holds around 40 people across dormitory rooms. Meals include dinner, breakfast, and packed lunches for departing hikers. The kitchen caters well to vegetarian requests. Water comes from the surrounding slopes. The hut stays open mid-June through late September, closing during winter and shoulder seasons. DAV members get a small discount on overnight rates. The location gives fast access to serious alpine terrain without requiring technical climbing.
Contact the hut directly by phone to reserve bunks, especially for weekends and July-August. Book at least two weeks ahead in summer, four weeks for peak season. The hut fills regularly on Saturdays. Arrive by early afternoon to claim your bunk and settle in before dinner service.
