About
The hut is managed by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and operates year-round with 60–70 beds split between dorm and private rooms. Meals focus on traditional Austrian mountain fare. Hot drinks, simple snacks, and packed lunches are available daily. The hut has running water and basic toilet facilities; showers are available for a small fee. Winter access depends on snow conditions and cable car operation.
Book ahead for July and August, especially weekends. Contact the hut directly by phone or email to confirm availability and current opening dates. Russbach am Pass Gschütt village, 3km below, has a handful of guesthouses and a restaurant if the hut is full. Sommeregger works best as a mid-range base for day hikes across the Sommeregger Alm or as a resupply point on longer ridge walks.
