About
Neunkirchner Hütte sits at 1,525m in the Seckauer Alpen range of Styria. The hut anchors a network of day walks and ridge traverses across the limestone peaks of the eastern Alps. Most hikers reach it from the Sölkpass road in 2 to 3 hours, gaining 400m on a well-marked trail. You can also approach from the Seckauer Sonnseite valley to the south, a longer route suitable for multi-day trips. The hut is accessible year-round by summer road standards, though winter conditions close most access routes from December through March.
The OeAV-managed hut offers 40 beds across simple private and dormitory rooms. There is a kitchen for self-catering, and the warden serves meals in the dining room during peak season (June to September). Showers, flush toilets, and drinking water make it one of the better-equipped intermediate huts in the region. The hut works well as a base for climbs of Hochsölder (2,258m), Klammspitze (2,250m), and the ridge traverse towards Scheiblingalm. Winter mountaineers use it for ski touring access, though avalanche terrain requires route knowledge.
Book directly with the hut from April onward for July and August weekends. Contact the Oesterr. Gebirgsverein section or telephone ahead for meal availability and winter opening dates. The hut fills on weekends during July and August, so aim to arrive by early afternoon.
