The Reinischkogelhütte sits at 1,524m in the Poßruck range south of Graz. Reach it from the village of Sankt Oswald ob Reinisch on a well-marked trail taking 1.5 hours. The approach gains 400m through mixed forest and opens into high meadow country. Most hikers approach from the Peggauer Wand side, a popular rock-climbing and hiking area. The hut works as a lunch stop on longer traverses across the eastern Styrian hills, or a base for day walks through the Pöls valley.
The OeTK-managed hut offers 50 beds split between a main building and annexe, with dorm rooms and some smaller doubles. The kitchen serves hearty Austrian mountain food at lunch and dinner. Expect a simple mountain atmosphere—this is not a hotel with en-suite bathrooms. Water comes from a spring on-site. The hut opens year-round but is quietest from November to February.
