Blankensteinhütte

Blankensteinhütte sits at 1,214m in the Benediktenwand massif, roughly 45km south of Munich. The hut stands at the head of the Benediktbeuern valley and works as both a destination and a waypoint for routes into the limestone peaks above. Reach it from Benediktbeuern village: follow the Urschlauer Straße south, then fork left up the forest track toward Benediktbeuern Alm. The hut is a 2.5-hour walk from the village. Alternatively, approach from the Eurasburg road via Schötzenbach (similar time). The valley route is straightforward and suitable for winter in settled snow conditions.
The hut is run by DAV Sektion München und Oberland and operates year-round, making it one of the more accessible bases near Munich. It sleeps around 40 people in shared dormitories and has a simple restaurant serving hot food, coffee, and beer. Meals are available to residents and day visitors. The hut has heating, running water, and toilets. It's popular with families and weekend hikers from Munich, but sees fewer crowds on weekdays.

The hut is a strong base for scrambling the Benediktenwand itself or continuing to higher peaks like the Benediktwand (1,801m).
