Edmund-Graf-Hut

The Edmund-Graf-Hütte sits at 2,375m in the Zillertal Alps, accessed via the Zillertal valley south of Mayrhofen. The standard approach takes 3.5 to 4 hours from the Schlegeis Stausee car park, climbing steadily through alpine meadow and scree. Summer hikers also use this hut as a waypoint for traverses toward the Zemmschlucht or multi-day ridge routes across the Zillertal high country.

The hut is managed by the Zillertaler Alpenvereins and offers 60 beds split between dormitory and smaller shared rooms. Meals focus on hearty Tyrolean food—expect good Kasnocken, schnitzel, and simple vegetarian options. The building has basic but adequate facilities: hot showers, a drying room for boots and packs, and limited charging for electronics. The hut operates from mid-June through late September, though exact dates shift annually based on snow melt and staffing. Winter use requires prior arrangement with the warden.

Book your bed 4 to 6 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. Email the hut directly with your dates and party size. The hut fills quickly during good-weather weeks and school holidays in German-speaking countries. Off-season (June and September) has more flexibility. Arrive by mid-afternoon to claim your bed and eat dinner with other guests—the communal dining is a core part of hut life.
