Gräner Ödenalpe

Gräner Ödenalpe sits at 1,715m in the Ötztal, accessible from the valley floor via a straightforward 2–2.5 hour hike. The approach gains 700m steadily through mixed forest and alpine meadow. Most walkers start from the Ötztal villages and follow marked trails that converge on the hut. The location works as a base for day walks in the surrounding Ötztal ridges or as a stop on multi-day traverses through the region.

The hut operates as a traditional Alm (Alpine dairy farm) with accommodation for around 30 people in mixed dormitories and a handful of private rooms. Meals focus on hearty mountain food—expect schnitzel, käsespätzle, and soups sourced from the farm's own production where possible. Water comes from the hut's own spring. The season typically runs mid-June through late September, with longer hours during peak summer months. Check opening dates before visiting in shoulder seasons.

Book directly by email or phone 4–8 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. This hut gets busy during school holidays across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, so advance notice matters. Midweek visits in June or September offer more flexibility. The hut sits on OeAV trails but is independently operated, so standard hut passports (Hüttenpass) don't apply—you pay full rates.
