Höfener Alm
3.7About
The alm operates as a traditional dairy farm with limited guest accommodation. Expect basic bunk beds, a small dining room, and hearty Tyrolean food—soups, schnitzel, and excellent fresh milk products from the working dairy. Water comes from the mountain spring. The season runs mid-June to mid-September, weather dependent. No shower or electric heating; bring a headtorch and be ready for simple mountain hut conditions. Capacity is around 20-25 people. Meals require advance notice—ring ahead when you book.
Book directly by phone several weeks ahead in July and August. The hut draws families and casual walkers rather than climbers, so weekends fill quickly. Shoulder months (June and September) are more relaxed. The hut keeper manages reservations personally and has no website; contact details available through the Zillertal tourist office. Bring cash—card payment is unreliable at remote alms.
