About

The Innsbrucker Hütte sits at 2,369m in the Stubai Alps, roughly 20km south of Innsbruck. Most hikers approach from the Elferkogl car park via the Elferkogl pass trail, a steep 4-5 hour push that gains 1,100m elevation. Alternatively, start from Fulpmes in the Stubai Valley for a longer but more gradual route. The hut is well-placed for day trips to Wilder Freiger (3,418m) and Zuckerhütl (3,507m), and serves as a base for multi-day tours linking the Stubai Alps.
The hut is run by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and sleeps around 80 people in mixed dormitories. Half-board meals are standard: hearty dinners and filling breakfasts. The kitchen serves excellent Tyrolean fare and can accommodate vegetarian requests with notice. Facilities include running water, a wood-heated common room, and composting toilets (no showers, bring washclothes). The hut typically opens mid-June through mid-September, depending on snow conditions.
Book by phone directly with the hut. High season is July and August—aim to reserve 4-6 weeks ahead for these months. June and September often have availability with shorter notice. Confirm your arrival time when you book, especially if you'll be late. The hut prefers same-day payment in cash.
