Pfarralm
3.7About
Pfarralm sits at 1,060m in the Zillertal valley, south of Mayrhofen. Reach it by walking from Mayrhofen in 2 hours via the marked trail through mixed forest, or from Finkenberg in 90 minutes. The final section climbs steadily but moderately through open pasture to the hut. Road access to a car park near Finkenberg cuts the walk to 45 minutes. Early summer hiking to higher alpine meadows and autumn mushroom foraging are popular from here. Winter snowshoe routes also start nearby.
The hut is family-friendly and opens year-round. It serves simple meals—soups, schnitzel, Kaiserschmarrn—alongside local beer and soft drinks. Overnight capacity runs to 60 guests across mixed dormitory and private rooms. Pit toilet facilities and basic showers are available. The hut offers good value and rarely feels crowded even in July and August, as it sits below the traffic heading to higher peaks.
Book directly by phone or in person. Reservations aren't essential outside peak summer weekends, though calling ahead on Friday for Saturday stays is sensible. The hut operates under the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) system. July and early August can see school group bookings on weekdays.
