Lindauer Hut

Lindauer Hütte sits at 1,744m in the Appenzell Alps on the Austrian–Swiss border in Vorarlberg. Reach it from Diepolz (near Oberstdorf, Germany) in 2.5 hours via the Rohrmoos valley, or from Schoppernau in roughly 3 hours. The approach is straightforward hiking on marked trails; no scrambling required. Most parties start from the Rohrmoos trailhead and follow the stream valley south.
The hut offers 163 beds across multiple dormitories and a few double rooms. The DAV Sektion Lindau manages it and provides hot meals, packed lunches, and drinks. Facilities include a dining hall, drying room, and outdoor seating. Water comes from the spring; the kitchen uses gas. The hut stays open year-round but operates on a reduced winter schedule—verify hours before planning a winter visit. Mobile signal is unreliable; bring cash or arrange payment beforehand.

Winter visitors and groups of 15+ need to contact the hut manager well in advance.
