Totalalp hut

Totalphütte sits at 2,381m on the Totalalp in the Vorarlberg Alps, accessible from the Damüls valley. Reach the hut in 2.5–3 hours from Damüls village (900m), following a well-marked trail that climbs steadily through mixed forest before opening onto alpine pasture. The route is straightforward hiking terrain with no scrambling. In summer, a cable car from Damüls to Omesberg (1,905m) cuts the approach to 1.5–2 hours if you prefer less vertical gain.
The OeAV-managed hut sleeps around 40 guests across shared dorm rooms and a few double rooms. Full meals are served daily—expect typical Austrian alpine fare with good vegetarian options. The kitchen team sources locally and adjusts menus for dietary requirements if you mention them when booking. Showers are available; there is no WiFi. The hut operates year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions—check with the hut before December visits. Staff are used to working with hikers planning multi-day routes across the Vorarlberg Alps.
