Gite Refuge du Laverq

Gîte Refuge du Laverq sits at 1,570m in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, serving hikers on routes through the southern French Alps. The hut is accessible from the village of Laverq by foot in roughly 1.5 hours on a marked trail. Summer access is straightforward; winter snow can block the approach road, though the hiking trail remains passable. The location works well as a base for day walks into the surrounding countryside or as a stopping point on longer traverses across the region.
The refuge operates as a small mountain gîte with a capacity of around 20 beds in mixed dormitories and a few private rooms. Hot meals are served during peak season, and basic supplies are available on site. Water and toilets are standard mountain facilities. The hut opens year-round, though staffing and meal service depend on advance notice outside July and August. Phone ahead if you're arriving in shoulder seasons.
