Gite D'Étape du Boréon

Gîte d'Étape du Boréon sits at 1,507m in the Vallée de la Vésubie, a serious hiking hub in the southern Alps. The approach is straightforward: drive to the Boréon car park (1,450m), then walk 10–15 minutes uphill on a marked trail. The location is a gateway to the Parc National du Mercantour and works well as a base for day hikes to Lac de Prals (2–3 hours return) or longer traverses into the backcountry. Most users stay one night between the coast and higher terrain.
The gîte has 24 beds across simple shared rooms and basic private options. Meals are provided as demi-pension (dinner and breakfast) or dinner only; the kitchen caters to groups and individuals equally. Facilities include hot showers, reliable heating, and a dining room. There is no shower-to-bed ratio issue here—standards are practical rather than luxe, which suits the hiking crowd. The gîte opens year-round, though advance contact is essential in winter.
