Refuge de Longon
4.2About
The refuge sleeps 35 in dormitory rooms. The guardian serves dinner and breakfast during the open season (typically May to September, though weather can extend or shorten this). Water comes from a spring; the toilet facilities are basic but functional. There's a small common room for evening gatherings. Mobile signal is patchy. The hut is managed by local volunteers and operates on a self-catering basis if the guardian is absent, with an honesty box for payment.
Ring ahead to confirm the hut is staffed and to reserve beds, especially for weekends and July–August. Capacity fills quickly during peak season. Arrive with cash—the hut does not take cards. The approach involves some scrambling and exposure in places, so solid mountain experience helps in poor visibility.
