Bivacco Gianni Comino

Bivacco Gianni Comino sits at 2,430m on the border between the Vallée de la Clarée and the Hautes-Alpes. The hut lies in the Massif du Chenaillet, accessible from the Névache side via a 3–4 hour approach hike. Summer access is straightforward from the hamlet of Névache; winter approaches demand Alpine experience and route-finding skills. The bivacco is a small, robust shelter designed for mountaineers and hikers moving through high terrain rather than a destination in itself.
The hut sleeps 7 in basic dormitory accommodation. It is unguarded (unstaffed), so you bring your own food and fuel. Water is available from nearby sources during summer months. The shelter provides protection from weather and wind; expect spartan conditions and bring a sleeping bag and mat. The bivacco typically remains accessible from June through September, though snow can linger into early summer and return by late autumn. Winter use requires winter mountaineering skills.
