Refuge du Fioux
2.6About
The hut is managed by FFCAM and operates from mid-June through mid-September. It has 40 beds across simple dorms and can serve around 50 people for meals. The guardian provides hot meals for guests and packed lunches on request. Water comes from a spring and toilet facilities are basic mountain standard. The refuge has no electricity or gas heating; warmth comes from a wood stove in the common room. Nights get cold at altitude even in summer, so bring a warm sleeping bag.
Book direct with FFCAM (contact details via the regional Portes du Soleil or Chamonix climbing club pages, or the main FFCAM website). July and August fill quickly; aim to reserve 4–6 weeks ahead for those months. June and September are quieter. The hut can accommodate walk-ins outside peak season if space allows, but do not rely on it in midsummer.
