Refuge Durier
2.9About
The FFCAM-managed refuge operates as a working mountaineer's base rather than a leisure facility. It sleeps 12 in basic dormitory conditions. The guardian provides evening meals and breakfast in the mountain style: substantial and functional rather than elaborate. Water comes from snowmelt; expect limited washing facilities and no showers. The hut has no electricity. Bring a headtorch and understand that comfort is minimal—you're here for the climbing and views of Mont-Blanc, Gran Paradiso, and the Monte Rosa chain.
Book directly by phone well in advance; the small capacity fills quickly from July through August. June and September offer better availability but carry higher objective risk from weather and unstable conditions. Confirm current opening dates and access conditions before planning your trip. Many parties use Durier as part of a multi-day Mont-Blanc traverse rather than a standalone stop.
