Wildstrubelhütte

Wildstrubelhütte sits at 2,793m on the Wildstrubel massif in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. The hut is reached from Gemmi Pass (2,322m) in roughly 2.5 hours heading north along the ridge. Most parties approach via the Gemmi cable car from Leukerbad, which cuts the approach walk to under 3 hours total. The final section climbs steadily across alpine meadow and loose scree. In winter and early spring, the route requires mountaineering skills and rope work depending on snow conditions.

The hut is managed by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) and holds 68 beds spread across shared dormitories. The kitchen serves three meals daily or you can use the self-catering kitchen for flexibility. Water is available on-site. Views reach across the Bernese high peaks toward Mont-Blanc on clear days. The hut opens year-round but staffing and services are limited November to March; contact before planning winter visits. Cell reception is unreliable, so plan accordingly.

Book 2–3 months ahead for July and August weekends. The hut is busier mid-week in summer than many Alpine huts. The hut sits on the Bernese Alps traverse, so plan accordingly if you're linking multi-day routes.
