Au Dessus de Gaudissard
2.6About
The refuge accommodates 30–40 people in dormitory rooms. Half-board is standard (dinner and breakfast included), with hearty portions suited to active hikers. Lunch packs are available on request. Water comes from a spring; there is no WiFi or mobile signal. The hut operates from mid-June to mid-September, coinciding with reliable weather in this part of the Écrins. This is a working mountain hut, not a hostel—expect basic comfort and an early breakfast schedule.
Book 6–8 weeks ahead for July and August. Contact the hut directly by phone or post; online booking is limited. Weekends fill faster than weekdays. June and September are quieter but weather can be unpredictable. The hut closes during poor conditions, so confirm before making the journey.
