Refuge D'Ambin

Refuge d'Ambin sits at 2,270m on the border between Hautes-Alpes and Savoie, a solid base for ridge walking and passes in the Massif de l'Ambin. Reach it from the Vallée de l'Arc. The approach from Bessans (Savoie side) takes roughly 2.5 hours on marked trails; the Hautes-Alpes approach via the Vallée du Guil is longer but equally feasible. The refuge operates with 30 beds split across shared dormitories. Half-board is standard—expect solid mountain fare and a working kitchen.
