Refuge de la Monta
2.6About
The refuge holds 50 people across dormitory rooms with foam mattresses and wool blankets. Half-board (evening meal and breakfast) is standard; the kitchen serves hearty mountain food suited to long days walking. There's a small solar power system and a wood stove in the common room. Water comes from a spring; toilets are outside. No WiFi. The hut typically opens mid-June through late September, depending on snow conditions and staffing. Expect it crowded in July and August, especially weekends.
Book direct by email or phone at least 6 weeks ahead for July and August. During shoulder seasons (June, September), 2–3 weeks' notice usually suffices. Confirm your arrival time; the guardian closes the door at dusk. Half-board is mandatory. Payment is cash only. The hut manages its own bookings independently—contact them directly rather than through online platforms for fastest response.
