Refuge de Terre Rouge
3.6About
The refuge operates year-round and takes around 40 people in its dormitory beds. Meals are served family-style in the dining room, and the guardian provides packed lunches for walkers continuing onward. There is no WiFi, so plan accordingly if you need to stay connected. Water comes from a spring, and the hut has basic hot showers. Toilets are outside. Conditions in winter are basic—the hut stays open but does not offer the full service of the summer season.
Book directly with the guardian by email or phone, especially if you're arriving between July and September when the hut fills regularly. Weekend bookings in summer should be arranged at least 6–8 weeks ahead. Outside peak season (April–June and September–October), you can often find beds with shorter notice. Confirm your arrival time when you reserve, as the guardian needs to prepare meals.
