Refuge Temple-Écrins

Refuge Temple-Écrins sits at 2,410m in the Hautes-Alpes, on the northern flank of Parc National des Écrins. The approach takes 3–4 hours from the trailhead at Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans, following a well-marked path that climbs steadily through alpine pasture and scree. The hut serves as a base for day hikes to the Temple massif and access routes to higher peaks in the Écrins range.
The refuge has 48 beds split between private rooms and dormitories. Full board (demi-pension) is available, and the kitchen provides solid mountain food. Water comes from a spring; there is no shower. The hut opens from June to September. FFCAM (Fédération Française des Clubs Alpins et de Montagne) manages the facility and maintains the surrounding trails.
Book 2–3 months ahead for July and August weekends; mid-week slots fill faster than you'd expect. Contact the hut directly by phone to check availability and reserve. Arrive by early afternoon to give yourself time to settle in before dinner service around 19:00.
