Chalet de Sécheron (Feissons sur Isère)

Chalet de Sécheron sits at 1,250m in the Chaîne de Belledonne, above the village of Feissons-sur-Isère in Savoie. The hut stands on the GR55 long-distance trail and serves as a base for traverses across the range toward the Parc National de la Vanoise. Most walkers reach it in 2–3 hours from Feissons, following forest tracks that gain 600m steadily. Winter access depends on snow conditions and avalanche risk.
The chalet operates year-round and holds 40 beds in dorm and private rooms. Meals focus on local mountain food; half-board is standard but room-only stays are possible. The hut runs a small bar and sells packed lunches for day walkers. Facilities include solar heating, composting toilets, and no mains water—expect basic comfort suited to serious hikers. Mobile signal is weak but reliable by landline.
Contact the hut directly by phone to reserve beds, especially for weekends and July–August. Winter bookings should be made well in advance due to limited staffing. The chalet sits outside major park boundaries, making it less crowded than huts deeper in the Écrins or Vanoise. Solo walkers and small groups will find it quieter than the busier refuges nearer to Mont-Blanc.
