Refuge de la Dent Parrachée

Refuge de la Dent Parrachée stands at 2520m in the Chaîne de la Tarentaise, in the heart of Savoie's high country. Most hikers approach from the Vallée de la Tarentaise. The standard route climbs from Landry, taking 4–5 hours to reach the hut via the Col de la Loze and Lac de Tignes. Fit parties can start from lower elevations and allow 6–7 hours. The approach is well-marked summer hiking with some steep sections in the final hour; crampons are not needed outside winter.
The refuge has 42 beds across shared dormitories. The FFCAM manages it with a full-time guardian during the season. Meals are substantial—expect hearty evening dishes and packed lunches for onward travel. Water comes from mountain springs. The hut has no shower, basic toilet facilities, and heating in communal areas. The season typically runs from June through September, depending on snow conditions. Winter access is possible but requires mountaineering skills and avalanche awareness.
Book by calling the hut directly in advance, especially for July and August when demand is high. Groups of six or more should contact the guardian at least one month ahead. The hut fills regularly on weekends and during school holidays. Arrivals are typically between 3 and 6 p.m. If you're delayed, phone ahead—the guardian will keep your reservation only until early evening.
