About

Refuge de Turia sits at 1,944m on the eastern side of Lac de Turia, in the Parc National de la Vanoise. The hut is accessed from Pralognan-la-Vanoise, a village 50km south of Chambéry. From the village parking, the hike to the refuge takes 3.5-4 hours. The path climbs steadily through larch forest and alpine meadows, following the north shore of the lac. The route is well-marked and non-technical, gaining 700m in elevation. Day hikers find this a popular approach to Pointe de la Réchasse (2,832m) or Aiguille de la Vanoise (3,518m).
The refuge is a simple, stone-built mountain hut run by FFCAM. It sleeps 30 in dormitory rooms with basic bedding provided. Half-board meals are mandatory: dinner is a set menu with cheese and wine included; breakfast and packed lunch available. Water comes from the lac. There is no shower. The hut operates from mid-June through mid-September, depending on snow conditions. Winter access is not possible. Mobile coverage is unreliable.
Book directly by email at least 6-8 weeks ahead for July and August weekends. June and early September are quieter. The hut requires confirmation and payment deposit via bank transfer. Cancellation policies are strict during peak season. Arrive by mid-afternoon to settle in before dinner service begins around 6.30pm.
