Tutzinger Hut

Tutzinger Hütte sits at 1,327m in the foothills south of Tutzing, on the eastern shore of Lake Starnberg. Reach it from Tutzing village in 1.5 hours by hiking south through mixed forest and pasture. The trail is well-marked and moderately graded—suitable for families and casual hikers, not a technical approach. You can also access it from Neubrunn to the east in roughly 2 hours via a steeper path. Train connections to Tutzing from Munich take 50 minutes, making this a practical weekend hut from the city.

The hut holds 75 beds across shared dormitories and 16 private rooms. The DAV section Tutzing manages it as a working mountain facility, not a resort—expect clean, functional accommodation. Showers are available. The kitchen serves three meals daily with hearty Bavarian fare. There's no WiFi, which suits its purpose as a hiking hub. It operates year-round, though book ahead for weekends and July-August. The hut works as both a base camp for day walks in the region and a stopping point on longer routes into the Benediktenwand massif to the south.
