Trattnerhütte - Tenneralm

Trattnerhütte sits at 1,270m on the Tenneralm plateau in the Berchtesgaden Alps, roughly 30km south of Berchtesgaden town. Reach it from Schönau am Königssee: drive to Königssee village, then follow the hiking path up the Königssee valley for 2.5 to 3 hours. The route gains 700m and stays mostly on good forest trail. Alternatively, approach from the Röthelmoos side if you're crossing the range. The hut lies on the main ridgeline between Watzmann massif and Hochkalter, making it ideal for longer traverses.
Trattnerhütte is a traditional family-run hut managed by the DAV. It sleeps around 50 guests in mixed dormitories and a handful of private rooms. The kitchen serves hearty Bavarian food at dinner and breakfast; bring cash or expect to use their card system. Water comes from the mountain spring. The hut runs from May through October, with reduced services in shoulder months. Toilets are simple but functional. The location works as a base for day hikes to Hochkalter (2,607m, 4 hours return) or as a transit point on the Watzmann-Hochkalter traverse.

May, June, September and October see fewer visitors and offer better availability. The hut prefers evening arrivals; notify them if you're coming for lunch.
