Liftstüberl

Liftstüberl sits at 1,738m in the Chiemgau Alps, accessible via the Kampenwand lift from Aschau im Chiemgau. The lift cuts 800m of ascent. From the top station, the hut lies 20 minutes' walk north across alpine meadow. Hikers without the lift face 2–2.5 hours from Aschau village. The location works as a base for routes across the Chiemgau ridges or as a waypoint between Aschau and higher huts like Achtal Alm. Afternoon thunderstorms are common here in summer; start early.
The hut holds around 50 beds split between dorm and double rooms. Meals include hearty dinners and packed lunches—order these by evening. The kitchen serves Bavarian specialities and caters to dietary requirements with advance notice. Simple shower facilities exist; water comes from the mountain. The hut opens year-round, though facilities are minimal November–March. Most traffic runs May–September. It operates as a DAV hut, so membership gives a small discount on bed rates.
Book directly by email or phone as soon as your dates are set—July and August fill 4–6 weeks ahead. Weekends book faster than weekdays. Half-board packages (bed plus dinner and breakfast) are standard and cost less than paying separately. Phone ahead to confirm meal availability if you arrive outside normal dinner service (typically 18:00–19:30). The hut sits at the limit of mobile coverage; call before you start walking if arrival will be late.
