Bivouac Alpe Agario

Bivouac Alpe Agario sits at 1560m in the Lombardy Alps, accessed via the Val di Scalve valley near Castelli Calepio. Reach it by hiking 2–2.5 hours from the Passo della Gorna parking area. The approach follows marked trails through mixed forest and alpine pasture with steady elevation gain. This is a small emergency shelter rather than a staffed rifugio.

The bivouac has 3 beds total and provides basic winter protection only. There is no guardian, no meals, and no water supply on-site. It functions as a rescue point for climbers and mountaineers caught in unexpected weather or darkness during ascents of the nearby peaks. The shelter opens year-round but is genuinely useful only for winter mountaineering or as a bail-out option—plan to self-supply completely.

This is not a hut to book. It exists as an unsecured emergency shelter. Bring your own sleeping bag, mat, and food. Check conditions locally before relying on it; weather and access deteriorate rapidly at this elevation, especially October through May. Use it as a last resort, not a destination.
