Bivouac Pian del Lago m.2330

Bivacco Pian del Lago sits at 2,325m in the Orobie Alps of Lombardy, serving as a base for traverses and ascents in this quieter section of the range. Access from the south takes 2.5 to 3 hours from the Rifugio Arciduca car park near Selvino; from the north, allow 3 to 3.5 hours from the Rifugio Barbellino parking. The bivouac occupies an exposed position on the high plateau, with mountain biking possible on the approach roads below.

The hut sleeps 4 people in basic dormitory conditions. There is no guardian and no meals service—bring all food, water, and cooking fuel with you. The structure provides shelter only, with no heating or electricity. Winter access requires significant snow experience; most climbing and hiking here happens May through October.

This is a walkers' and scrambler's refuge rather than a staffed hut. Check locally about water sources and condition before going. The remote location and minimal facilities suit experienced mountaineers making multi-day traverses, not casual day-hikers. Winter conditions can isolate the bivouac completely. Arrive early in the day and carry extra supplies in case weather or injury extends your stay.
