Cabin Adula UTOE

Capanna Adula sits at 2,393m in the Leponti Alps on the Lombardy–Switzerland border. Reach it from Lanzada valley in 4–5 hours on a well-marked trail from the Zocca trailhead (1,650m). The route gains 750m steadily through alpine meadow and scree. An alternative approach runs from the Splügen Pass side if you're coming from Switzerland. The hut stands near Pizzo Adula and commands views across the upper Val di Rossa.

The hut has 54 beds in mixed and private rooms. Meals are served daily during the season—expect hearty risotto and pasta. A self-catering kitchen lets you cook your own food if preferred. Water from the mountain spring is safe to drink. The refuge stays open from mid-June to late September, weather permitting. Winter access is possible only in exceptional conditions.

Book by email or phone 6–8 weeks ahead for July and August. The hut fills quickly on weekends and Swiss hiking holidays. Staff speak Italian and basic English. Half-board and full-board options are available. Payment is cash-preferred, though card payments are increasingly accepted—confirm when booking. Arrive before 18:00 if walking in; the staff need time to prepare meals.
