Cabin Pian d'Alpe

Capanna Pian d'Alpe sits at 1764m on the Pian d'Alpe plateau in Lombardy, surrounded by meadows and forest. Reach it from the Val Tartano valley via a 2-hour hike that gains 350m steadily. The approach is straightforward: follow marked paths from the valley floor through mixed woodland to the plateau. Winter access becomes difficult above 1400m, so plan visits between June and September.

The hut holds 37 beds across shared dormitories and 3 private rooms. Hot meals are served daily when open. Water comes from a reliable spring. The refuge operates as a base for day walks across the plateau and ridge traverses into higher terrain. Facilities are basic and typical for mountain refuges at this elevation—expect functional rather than luxurious conditions.
