Casa di Prim’Alpe

Casa di Prim'Alpe sits at 725m in the foothills above the Lombardy plains, roughly 1.5 hours on foot from the village of Colico at the northern tip of Lake Como. The approach follows a steep valley path through mixed woodland, gaining 550m over the route. Most hikers use the village as a road access point and begin their ascent from there. The hut works as a base for day walks across the lower Pre-Alpine terrain—nothing technical, but sustained climbing.

The rifugio operates year-round and sleeps around 20 people in shared dormitory rooms. Meals are available, though you should confirm availability when booking. Facilities are basic: running water, pit toilets or similar. It functions more as a walker's refuge than a mountain shelter, suited to those doing multi-day explorations of the Lombardy foothills rather than high-altitude expeditions.

Book direct by phone or email well ahead if you're planning a summer weekend. The hut fills quickly on Saturdays from June through September, particularly among groups from the nearby towns.
