Refuge Uschione

Rifugio Uschione sits at 840m in the foothills of Lombardy, easily reached from the Val Seriana valley. The hut anchors the network of local trails that cross these lower Alpine slopes. Most hikers approach from Ardesio on foot in 2–3 hours via marked paths through beech and mixed woodland. The terrain is consistently steep but never technical.

The rifugio operates as a working mountain lodge with 30 bed spaces split across simple rooms. The kitchen serves full meals at lunch and dinner, with breakfast available for staying guests. Water comes from the spring. The hut has basic heating and electric light. The season runs year-round, though snow occasionally forces temporary closure in January and February. Call ahead during winter.

Book directly by phone. The hut manages its own reservations and fills quickly on weekends and Italian holidays. For summer weekends (June–September), call at least one week ahead. Weekday slots are usually available with shorter notice. The hut is not affiliated with CAI or other clubs, so online booking through national platforms is not an option. Confirm your arrival time when you call.
