Chalet du Prabé sits at 2,050m in the Valli di Lanzo, an hour's drive northwest of Turin in Piedmont. Reach it from Lanzo d'Intelvi by hiking the Val Grande trail, a steady 2.5-hour ascent through open pasture and larch forest. The final approach crosses alpine meadow with unobstructed views of the Gran Balma and Mont Rosset ridges. Vehicle access exists via rough road from the valley floor, but most visitors arrive on foot.

The hut operates year-round and sleeps 30 across mixed dormitories. The kitchen provides hearty meals—expect classic Piedmont cuisine with polenta, fresh cheeses, and game in season. Hot showers, heating, and WiFi are standard. Meals are served at set times, so confirm dinner hours when you arrive. The location works as a base for day hikes to Gran Balma (2,415m, 1.5 hours) or as an overnight stop on multiday valley traverses. Staff speak Italian and basic English.
