Malga Cupolà di Sotto
2.9About
The malga operates as a rifugio with room for 30–40 guests in simple dormitory accommodation. Meals focus on local Val di Non food: polenta, venison, locally made cheese. The kitchen serves packed lunches if you order ahead. Water comes from the spring. There's no shower and toilets are basic mountain standard. The hut opens June through September, weather permitting. Winter closure is absolute—the access roads and paths become unreliable. The staff can advise on walking loops and scrambles in the surrounding limestone hills.
Book by phone or email at least a week ahead during peak season (July–August). The hut fills quickly on summer weekends. Solo hikers often find space midweek. Arrive before 6 pm to guarantee a meal. There's limited mobile signal; bring cash, as card payment is unreliable. The nearest town (Cles) has small shops but no major supermarket. Stock up before heading to the hut.
