About

Radelsee-Haus sits at 2,280m in the Zillertal Alps, directly above the Radelsee lake in Tirol. Reach it from the village of Ginzling (also called Dornau) by hiking the Zillertal to the Fußstein Alm, then climbing northeast to the hut. The full route takes 3–4 hours. The steep final approach rewards you with views across the surrounding peaks and down to the emerald lake. Summer hikers use this as a base for day walks to Reichenspitze (2,752m) or Hochfeiler.
The hut is small, with around 40 beds split between dormitory and double rooms. Half-board meals are hearty and based on what's available locally—expect plenty of bread, cheese, and meat. The kitchen serves breakfast early and dinner around 6pm. There's no shower, but you can wash in the lake during summer or use cold running water. The hut operates from June through September; winter access is unreliable and the building unheated.
Book direct by phone (+43 664 2827050) or email. July and August fill fast—aim for 6–8 weeks ahead. The hut gets crowded on weekends in July. Weekday visits in June or September offer quieter conditions and better chances of finding a bed without advance notice.
