Refuge Val Malga

Rifugio Val Malga sits at 1146m in the Val di Non, a broad valley in southern Trentino. From the village of Cles, walk 2 hours northeast on clear trails through mixed forest to reach the hut. The approach is steady rather than steep, making it accessible for families and those acclimatizing to longer mountain days. The rifugio works as a base for day walks into the surrounding woodlands and meadows, or as a stopping point on longer traverses through the Val di Non.

The hut has 30 beds in simple rooms. Half-board is standard—expect hearty Trentino cooking focused on local ingredients. Full meals and drinks are available to day visitors. The kitchen closes mid-afternoon. Water comes from a spring. Mobile signal is weak but present. The hut operates year-round, though phone ahead in winter. Winter access requires snowshoes or skis depending on conditions.

Book through the hut directly by phone or email. July and August fill 3–4 weeks ahead. March through May is quieter. The hut is family-run and responsive to direct contact. There is no website presence on major booking platforms. Ask about group rates for parties of 8 or more.
