Refuge Barba Ferrero

Rifugio Barba Ferrero sits at 2247m in the Gressoney valley, in the shadow of Monte Rosa's eastern slopes. Reach it from Gressoney-la-Trinité by hiking northeast up the Gressoney valley for roughly 3 hours. The trail is steady and well-marked, gaining 700m elevation through pasture and rocky terrain. This is the main access, though experienced scramblers can approach from the higher passes above.

The hut sleeps 26 people in simple dormitory rooms. Half-board is the standard offering: expect straightforward mountain cooking, hearty pasta and polenta, with breakfast included. Showers are available. The hut opens typically from June through September, depending on snow conditions. This is a working hut, not a tourist lodge, so standards match the altitude and setting.

The hut sits on primary routes toward higher passes and Monte Rosa approaches, so it draws regular traffic during summer weekends.
