Refuge L'Ermitage

Rifugio L'Ermitage sits at 1,922m in Valle d'Aosta's lower reaches, making it a solid base for day hikes across mixed terrain. Drive to Valtournenche and follow the marked trail up the Marmore valley; the approach takes 2.5 hours on foot. The hut works as either an overnight stop or a hub for exploring the surrounding ridges and peaks without heavy pack days.

The hut holds 36 beds split across multiple rooms. You get shower access, which matters after dusty approaches. WiFi runs throughout if you need to download weather forecasts or coordinate with hiking partners. The kitchen serves standard rifugio fare—pasta, polenta, local cheese. Half-board (bed and dinner) is standard; packed lunches are available. The season runs May through September, with June and July seeing the heaviest foot traffic.
