About

Bivacco Fratelli Fanton sits at 2,667m in Val Baion, above the older structure that stood lower on the mountain. Reach it via the hiking route from Rifugio Fedare in roughly 2.5 hours. The CAI rebuilt and relocated this bivouac in 2020, opening it in 2021 nearly 1,000m higher than its predecessor.

The hut has 9 beds and 12 emergency places. It is staffed during summer months and remains open but unstaffed in winter. Bring your own food and water—the bivouac does not serve meals or provide water sources. There is no WiFi. Use this hut for alpinism and higher-altitude hiking where you want a secure place to sleep before technical climbing or long ridge traverses.

Book by email through rifugi.cai.it or contact the CAI directly. In July and August, book 4-6 weeks ahead. Winter visits require checking current conditions with the CAI beforehand since the unstaffed season means no on-site support.
