Bivouac Lavacchio

Bivacco Lavacchio sits at 1,369m in the Veneto Alps, on the approach to Monte Grappa. Reach it from Bassa di Valstagna in 1.5 hours on marked trails—the walk gains 200m through mixed woodland and opens to views across the limestone plateau. The bivouac lies 200m below the summit ridge, making it useful for early starts toward Grappa's cross or for peak-baggers timing an ascent to catch dawn.

This SAT-managed bivouac holds 10 beds in basic alpine shelter. There is no guardian, no meals, and no water tap—bring all supplies from the valley. The structure offers walls, a roof, and sleeping platforms; it's weatherproof but unheated and stripped to essentials. Open year-round, though winter snow can make the approach technical and access unpredictable. Check conditions locally before attempting winter visits.

The bivouac is a day-use resource for fit hikers on peak routes, not an overnight base unless self-sufficient. Register visits with SAT beforehand. No telephone contact or internet bookings apply—treat this as an unstaffed emergency shelter with capacity limits. Respect the hut and leave it as you find it.
