Rifugio Bajon

Rifugio Bajon sits at 1,828m in the Dolomites near Domegge di Cadore. The hut is the standard base for hiking in the Sorapis massif and the surrounding limestone peaks. Most parties approach via the marked trail from Cortina d'Ampezzo or from Tre Croci Pass (1,805m), both taking 2–3 hours on foot. The terrain is steep in sections but well-maintained and straightforward to navigate.

The rifugio holds 49 beds spread across multiple rooms. It operates as a full-service mountain hut with a kitchen serving hot meals and packed lunches. The CAI manages the facility and maintains high standards for comfort and cleanliness. Water comes from a spring source. The hut stays open year-round, though staffing levels vary seasonally—summer (June–September) is fully operational, while shoulder seasons see reduced hours. Winter access requires prior arrangement.

Contact the hut directly by email or phone to check availability and book. Summer weekends and July fill quickly; book at least 4–6 weeks ahead for July stays. Off-season (October–May) you can usually arrange a bed with shorter notice. The hut asks for deposits on some bookings. Arrive by early afternoon to secure a good bed allocation and have time to settle before dinner service.
